The updated technology of mold injection: the introduction of hot runner system technology
We refer to the traditional mold injection as cold runner mold.  After injection, there is a cooled solidified runner needed to be fetched by hand after unloading the mold. The mold installed by hot runner system (including nozzle, manifold, temperature controller), is named as hot runner mold.
Comparing with the cold runner mold, the merit of the hot runner mold showed as below:
1. When the wall thickness of the part is very thin, hot runner system can ensure the melt completely reach the part far from the gate, to reduce the degree of the part deforming, to advance the consistency of the part and the part surface quality.
2. The loss of the runner pressure is small, the melt liquidity is good, and the density is even, which all can avoid the defects such as, part deformation, the size being unstable, and the color difference, etc.
3. Completely or mostly the plastic regrind are eliminated, there is no need of cutting the biscuit by hand and smashing it, which advances the material using rate, and saves the resources, and advance the production effect.
4. Eliminating the extra heat brought by waste plastic, the mold cooling cycle time is only the time for plastic cooling, which shorten the process cycle time.
5. The hot runners are all by automatic cutting the gate, which improves the gate appearance, and advance the automatic operation degree.
6. Precisely controlling the melt plastic temperature without the material degradation ensures the time more reasonable, and reduces the part internal stress.
As the merits of hot runner systems, in America and Europe, there are almost 70% of the mold manufacturers using hot runner system.
